How to apply for a scholarship from the UP Scholarship Fund?

Answer: Candidates for the scholarship need to express their interest for the inclusion in the Fund by submitting the e-application form through the portal of the Career Center of the University of Primorska (Splet-išče KC UP).

What are the requirements for the inclusion of candidates for scholarship in the fund?

Answer: Admission to the scholarship program of the Fund shall be granted to the following applicants:

  • candidateswho have applied for enrolment or are enrolled in the 1st year of any 1st level study programme at the UP, and whose number of points achieved at the matura examination or whose overall secondary education achievements at least 80 points of normalized value according to the Table for the conversion of grades and the calculation of points for enrolment in first-cycle higher professional study programmes with limited enrolment, which means achievements at least 20 points at the matura examination or achievements at least 16 points at the vocational matura examination and comparable with other secondary level graduation options;
  • candidateswho have applied for enrolment or who are enrolled in the 1st year of a 2nd or 3rd level study programme at the UP, when their overall average study grade at the previous level is higher than 8,50;
  • students enrolled in the 1st, 2nd, or 3rdlevel of study programmes at the UP, but not students who extended their status, whose average grade is higher than 8,50.

What needs to be attached to the e-application?

Answer: The e-application need to be accompanied by the Curriculum vitae (CV) and Motivational letter. If the candidate also wants to apply for additional points from the category of additional competences, the application need to be accompanied by adequate proofs.

When is the deadline for submitting e-applications to the UP Scholarship Fund?

Answer: The e-application deadline is September 15th, 2023.

Whether the UP Scholarship Fund scholarship is excluded from other scholarships?

Answer: No.

What is the amount of the scholarship from the UP Scholarship Fund?

Answer: In case the scholarships are awarded via UP, the scholarship amount is 200,00 EU per month or 2.000,00 EUR per academic year. In case of interest, a higher scholarship can also be awarded, namely:

  • for students enrolled in the 1st and 2nd cycle, who score from 80 to 89 points, the scholarship can be as high as 300,00 EU per month, respectively as high as 3.000,00 EU per academic year;
  • for students enrolled in the 1st and 2nd cycle, who score from 90 to 100 points, the scholarship can be as high as 480,00 EU per month, respectively as high as 4.800,00 EU per academic year;
  • for students enrolled in the 3rdcycle, the scholarship can be as high as 1.000,00 EU per month, respectively as high as 10.000,00 EU per academic year.

Can I also receive a scholarship during my absolvent year?

Answer: No.

Can I receive a scholarship from the UP Scholarship Fund even if I am employed?

Answer: the UP Scholarship Fund is not open to applicants who:

  • are employed or self-employed;
  • they are managers of a company or directors of a private institution;
  • are entered in the register of unemployed persons at the Employment Service of the Republic of Slovenia.

Working as a student via student services is allowed.

Can the scholarship be renewed for the following academic year?

Answer: At the initiative of the partner or fund promoter and with the consent of the student, an addendum to the scholarship agreement may be concluded for the new academic year with the same student. In this case, the student must fulfil the following conditions:

  • for students of the 1st and 2nd cycle, the average grade must be higher than 8,50;
  • for students of the 3rdcycle, the average grade must be higher than 9,00.

What obligations does the student have as a grant recipient?

Answer: The scholarship holder must complete all the requirements for the current year, as specified in the study programme, by 30 September at the latest. Failure to comply with this provision is grounds for termination of the scholarship agreement and repayment of the scholarship.

Whether the scholarship holder must be employed by the applicant after completing his studies?

Answer: The scholarship holder undertakes, at the request of the applicant, to take up employment with the applicant after the completion of his studies for a period of at least the duration of the scholarship, provided that the applicant has a vacancy corresponding to the scholarship holder's educational qualification.
